This roof conversion in the north of Berlin explores the potential of an independent roofscape. Instead of a uniform, single volume, the proposal envisions a combination of three individual residential units, autonomous in their shape, put together to form a small, multi-faceted roofscape. Due to local set back regulations, all exterior walls are reset from the outer edges and thus form generous terrace areas all around. Despite their individual character the large roof terraces reconnect and integrate the single dwelling units into a cohesive social whole and allow for the possibility of random encounters far above street level.
